First, before I forget -- I'm having a difficult time posting pictures. Working on it and hope to figure it out or go begging for help.
Bud was not feeling well this morning when we got up - a little altitude sickness but has made great improvement during the day. I got to drive from Mammoth Hot Springs to Old Faithful and he was the "sleepy photographer". It was sort of nice trading places. Anyway, we took a few minutes before leaving our trainer to go over a few more transactions and get some things settled in our minds. She is a real sweet lady and we got to know her really well over the 3 days we were with her. Her husband had surgery on Monday and she was real concerned about him during the classes. She confided a lot in us - the age similarity, I'm sure and we felt we had gained her confidence.
We drove the hour+ to Old Faithful and took the grand tour trying to find Personnel. We asked young and old employees where Personnel was and the standard answer was - "I don't know". One young man asked us what Personnel was? - go figure. Anyway finally found a truck driver who drew us a map and we found it perfectly.
Now, may I please thank everyone for their fervent prayers regarding our room status at Old Faithful, (OF). We did get a first floor room with a private bath. We almost shouted we were so happy. We have a twin bed, full bed, two wardrobes and a desk unit with additional shelving on the side. Pretty good storage. I'll add pictures soon. The name of our dormitory is Obsidian and it is known as the "Quiet Building". We have met many of our neighbors - - who also are Seniors and very nice.
We each met our Managers today and they are really nice young men. They will coordinate our schedules starting in a couple of weeks but for right now we are working different days and times. It is a temporary inconvenience. Both of the men fly fish and that is a plus for all of us. The Old Faithful part of Yellowstone is the most heavily visited part of Yellowstone . The Management Team of the Park refer to OF as the "big city" part of the entire Park. Consequently the retail stores are the busiest so we anticipate being busy during our working hours. Literally hundreds of people gather every hour to watch "Old Faithful" spew water up to 200' heavenward every 1-1/2 hrs. After the geyser subsides the people race to the gift shops to make their purchases. The store where Bud will be sold in excess of $25,000 yesterday and the heavy traffic doesnstart until near July 1st etc.
It's been a loooong day and even though it is only 9:15PM and the sun has not gone to bed yet --- we are!! Tomorrow more new happenings
Glad you got that ground floor room and private bath. Good luck selling!
